9-Point Scale Report

In Tasmania, students from Year 1 to Year 6 are assessed against a 9-point visual scale in English, Maths, Science and HASS (History and Studies of Society) twice a year. Preps are only assessed against the 9-point scale at the end of the year. This scale has a marker to indicate your child’s learning achievement at a point in time.

Evidence of learning

Evidence of learning is a work sample (or observation) and the teacher’s feedback given to your child that accompanies it.

Evidence of your child’s learning will be shared with you each term. At Bagdad Primary School this may be sent home through:

  • Through our online platform Seesaw.
  • Printed and sent home.

All evidence of learning will also be available during parent and teacher meetings.

This year the evidence of learning will be sent home in the following terms:

  • Term 1 – Maths
  • Term 2 – Writing and Science
  • Term 3 – Maths and Writing
  • Term 4 – Writing, Maths, History and Studies of Society (HASS), PE, Art, STEM and Music

Kinder

Kinder Development Check

The Kindergarten Development Check (KDC) is designed to assist teachers in the early identification of any Kindergarten student who is at risk of not achieving expected developmental outcomes and may require a specific intervention program and/or support from support staff. This check is completed twice a year at school and then sent home to parents.

Parent and teacher meetings

Parent and teacher meetings are an opportunity for you to talk about your child’s learning progress with their teacher. You can also discuss what things they can do to keep improving. Parent and teacher meetings are held for all Kinder to Year 6 students.

You will have the opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher/s in Terms 2 and 3 of the school year.

At Bagdad Primary School, we encourage you to come in and organise to speak with your child’s teacher at any point in the school year.  Please do not wait until parents and teacher meetings to discuss any concerns or ask questions.
